Wheelbarrow Coal Company, 1908:
Low poly modular environment made with 3ds Max and Unreal Engine

Wheelbarrow Coal Company Town is a ficitonal town based on the Coal Town System widely used in West Virginia during the late 19th century.
These company-owned little towns stood apart from the rest of the world: the law forces were privately hired, and all forms of commerce were ruled by the company. The grocery store, the restaurant, the real estate… Everything was owned by the coal company. Sometimes even a local coin was used for commerce inside these towns; workers were paid, and they would spend this money in the town shops, which were owned by the company itself, closing a Machiavellian circle.
People lived and worked here, and all their lives fit inside the confines of the company that hired them.

Low poly models and tileable textures were used for high real-time optimization, while keeping these textures highly customizable through RGBA maps so that realism and attention to detail are maintained.
